God's Fingerprints

Camping is one of my favorite things to do in the summer. I love the smell of pine trees and the welcoming warmth of a crackling fire. Most of all, I love staying up late at night to watch the stars. Without city lights to dim them, they shine brightest in the quiet darkness of the forest. And there you can almost hear them whisper, /lThe heavens declare the glory of God ..." (Psalm 19:1).

Our God tells us,"I... My right hand spread out the heavens"(Isaiah 48:13). Simple words.

Awesome meaning. Especially when you consider the pictures taken by the Hubble telescope, and the fact that we know there is so much more beyond the reach of our modern telescopes! Yet these immense, powerful, beautiful, majestic heavens are but the fingerprints of the One who "determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name." (Psalm 147:40).

It needs to get pretty dark before you can really see the stars. Just like lifeit is when our circumstances are at their grimmest that-if we look up-we can see His promises shine their brightest. For He will draw near and assure us that the Hand that spread out the heavens is the one that holds our own:

"I am the Lord your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, 'Do not fear, I will help you.'" (Isaiah 41:13).

And suddenly it becomes easier to believe that there really is absolutely nothing He can't do for us. For the heavens attest that His power is as infinite as His love.
