This is one of those "matter of fact" sentences that can easily slip by us in a cursory reading of the Bible. Jesus had told His disciples to go the village ahead of them, and as they entered it, they would find a colt tied there. The disciples went, and they found everything just as He had told them. It is a simple statement of fact; but if we stop and think about it, we find that it is actually full of meaning, hope and assurance. Why? Because we too will find that everything is as He has told us it would be. God not only tells the truth. He is truth. The dictionary defines truth as "Conformity to fact or reality." I like that. God's existence is a fact, and He is the ultimate reality. Because of who He is, we can trust everything He says. There is no one else who is so utterly reliable. Even when we tell the truth, we may stretch it and sometimes exaggerate. And we see things from our own unique–and at times skewed–perspective. Not God. Everything is exactly as He says it is. So when He tells us that we will be where He is, it is true. When He says He is with us always, it's true. When He assures us that whoever touches us touches the apple of His eye, we better believe it. And when His word testifies that He delights in us ... He does! He actually enjoys our company and the work He is doing in our lives. Have you ever created something that you really enjoyed making? Something that you found great pleasure in and like to look back on with pride and joy? That is how God feels about us! We are His workmanship. A masterpiece in the making, because it is He who is at work. Throughout eternity, we will be the living testimony of what God's grace is able to accomplish. The angels will marvel. And we will find all of it to be true... just as He has told us. -Maria Lund
