Transformation
As I sat down to read my Bible I felt frustrated, stagnant. I was not growing in my Christian life. I wanted to mature and change, but I couldn't see any progress.
"Go look at your child."
I didn't actually hear the words. It was more like a sudden overwhelming impulse I didn't quite understand but felt I needed to obey. So I got up and went to look in on my son who was asleep in his crib.
"Has he changed?"
He sure had. He was now almost a year old and looked very different from the day he was born.
"Did you see the changes as they were happening?"
No, I hadn't. I had to look at pictures from previous months to notice just how much he had changed.
'Why not?"
Because I saw him every day. The changes were so gradual... I suddenly understood! I could almost see Him smile.
Just because we can not see the changes doesn't mean they are not happening. More often than not, it is a gradual, imperceptible process.
If find that incredibly encouraging. If we are faithfully living our lives by the light of His Word, obeying His commands and His leading, we will change. Guaranteed. Even if we don't see it or feel it happening.
Gradually, imperceptibly, we are changing, transforming ... Into what?
“ … We … are being transformed into his likeness
…” (2 Corinthians 3:18)
