Home > Activities Calendar > Christmas at Wiley Heights Our Goal this year is to pack 200 boxes! The shipping has been paid on line so we can follow our boxes!> Each year the congregation gathers together toys and essentials to donate to children in poor countries around the globe. The wrapped shoeboxes of goodies are donated to Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child for distribution. By pre paying our shipping costs we have been given special labels and we will receive up dates as to the location of our boxes. We are having a Shoebox Packing Party on November 20th beginning with lunch served at noon. It was really a lot of fun last year but do not be late because we filled 161 boxes in less than an hour, and you don’t want to miss any of the fun! We are in need of TOYS:
Other items you can provide to put in a shoebox include: crayons; coloring books; toothbrushes; toothpaste; hard candy; socks; underwear; soap; washcloth; combs; flip flops (rubber sandals). Remember to listen to the Holy Spirit as you shop! There are countless stories of answered prayers in shoeboxes. One girl several years ago wanted a dress for her graduation from school it was all she wanted, a woman here in America while shopping received the unshakable urge to buy a prom dress and put it in a box. She trusted the Lord, bought the dress, and put it in a box with her prayers that God would send it where it needed to go. God answered both their prayers! Bring all your items to the church no later than the Thursday, November 18th so I can inventory what we may still need for the party. Arrive at 11:00 am for lunch on the 21st and let God fill you with the Christmas spirit. It truly is better to give than to receive! Collection Week is November 15-22 and the Yakima collection sites are at Inklings Book store, 6910 W Lincoln Ave., and Ahtanum Pioneer Church.
