75 shoeboxes is our goal for 2005

Christmas Shoeboxes - each year the congregation gathers together toys and essentials to donate to children in poor countries around the globe. The wrapped shoeboxes of goodies are donated to Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child for distribution. In 2004, the congregation donated 50 shoeboxes, contributing to the total of 7.2 million shoeboxes that were donated to 95 countries around the world through this project.

In 2003, we met and exceeded our goal with 78 shoeboxes donated from the Wiley Heights congregation, as well as the $5 necessary to cover the costs of shipping for each box. In 2004 contributed 52 shoeboxes to this worthy cause!

2005 update: Samaritan Purse has sent gift bags to thousands of children who were affected by Hurricane Katrina and they are developing plans to minister to these children this Christmas while still meeting their overseas commitments. Please join Samaritan Purse in praying for the Lord's guidance.

The collection week is November 14 - 21, 2005 and we want our shoeboxes into Wiley Heights by Sunday the 20th. The Yakima collection site is the West Valley Nazarene Church at 72nd and Nob Hill.
