Church Banners
Here are some things that Carolyn Van de Graaf has to say about the beautiful banners hanging in our church.
I enjoy quilt making and working with fabric designs. When asked if I would be able to make some banners for the church, I felt blessed that I could give back of my God given talent to my church family. I hope that the congregation enjoys them as much as I have enjoyed making them.
Christ Lives In Me
When words or images run off the edge, or "bleed," a larger-than-life effect is created. When we die and are reborn in Christ through Baptism, the result is an immense event.
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Born Of Water And Spirit
I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh but the Spirit gives birth to the spirit.
Let Your Light Shine
The positive/negative treatment of the candle flames indicates the way we are to complement one another as we work in God’s kingdom. Leading, following, sharing the light, taking turns, holding up the light for someone else - all these allow God-given personalities and talents to shine.
In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
What A Friend We Have In Jesus
The symbols in the designs are simple. A heart signifying love, and a cross, the reminder of Jesus’ loving action. What a friend indeed!
I Am With You Always
Christ’s comforting promise to us is echoed by the large all-encompassing shape of the design.
And surely I am with you always to the very end of age.
A Church On A Hill
I used the word church because Wiley is on a hill.
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
