Meet the staff at Wiley Heights Covenant Church in Yakima!

Mark Swanson was called to be pastor to Wiley Heights Covenant Church in September of 2008. Mark was born and raised in Minnesota. He attended the Covenant Bible College in Strathmore, Alberta, before attending North Park University in Chicago, Illinois. After some time working for a non-profit and doing community work in Chicago, he went to North Park Theological Seminary, where he received his Master of Divinity degree. Prior to Wiley Heights Mark served as the Associate Pastor for Youth and Family at Prairie Hills Covenant Church in Sioux Falls. Mark is excited with what God is doing at Wiley Heights and in the West Valley transforming lives and communities, as people practice the Great Commandment of loving God and loving their neighbors (Matthew 22:34-40). Mark is happily married to the wonderful and lovely Megan. When he’s not at church mark enjoys getting lost in the great outdoors, a good book, lively conversation, and it’s all the better if he has a cup of coffee in his hand. Megan and Mark are blessed with a young son, Oskar. |
 Youth and Family Ministries Sherrin Melcher |
Sherrin Melcher joined the church staff on April 1st 2008. We didn't
have to look to far for her as she has been volunteering at Wiley
Heights Covenant since becoming a member in 2001. Over the years Sherrin
has taught Sunday school, helped at youth group, and served in many
areas of church government. Sherrin's vision of ministry is to work with the parents of our congregation to develop programs to meet the needs of their children and that fit into their busy schedules. Working closely with the Christian Education Board, she hopes to continue to build relationships within the church family, plan socials, and activities to include the entire church body. Sherrin likes to build relationships with new people who visit our church. “I’m really a deacon at heart…,” so says Anne McEwen, the office secretary at Wiley Heights Covenant Church. Anne is a native of the Yakima Valley, married 35 years to husband Art, and Mom to grown sons Ian and Sean. Caring for others is one of her great passions. “I truly love my work here at Wiley Heights. This church
is a large family and I am blessed to work with and care for these
wonderful people. As in any family, there is never a dull moment
– it’s wonderful!” |
