Home > Ministries > Fun and Fellowship On a regular basis we schedule a social activity at the church on a Sunday afternoon or on an evening. This is an opportunity to come together and visit as well as an opportunity to invite a friend to meet your friends from church. These activities are planned with a wide age range in mind, so as not to exclude anyone from coming and enjoying a time of fellowship. There is always some wonderful desert or snack to eat and loads of fun to be had by all! Hope to see you soon! Upcoming EventsThe second Friday of every month we host a "Out To Lunch Bunch". Lunch is served for anyone who wants to come, along with a time of fellowship and visiting. Dine at noon, and rides are available upon request. Call church office for more details. Past ActivitiesShoebox Packing Party: November 20, 2010The congregation purchases items for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes all year. We gather together and fill the wrapped boxes with things like, toys, balls, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, washcloth, comb, candy socks ect. Last year we filled over 200 boxes in less than one hour. We celebrate with a soup lunch and place the boxes in the sanctuary for prayer. These boxes joined others from around the country to the total of 8.2 million boxes and were distributed to over 95 different countries, including the USA.
Third Annual Horsehoe Tournament - September 12, 2010A ringer of a good time for all Thanks to the efforts of many September 12, was a day of Fun & Fellowship. We began with a wonderful worship service. Then we moved down stairs for a BBQ lunch organized by Chris Carlson, and cooked by her husband Steve and Kevin Milford. We enjoyed floats for desert, while we selected teams by random draw for the tournament to follow. There were 14 teams of two competing for 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th place prizes. There were 8 teams making it to the second round, where they would compete for a chance to play in the prize round. Making it into the prize round were: Louise Diaz & Laura Melcher, George Helton & Becky Thomas, Ted Nyberg & John Marsh, Jim Milton & Jose Diaz. After much laughter, and some serious horseshoe throwing, the results were as follows: First Place: Ted & John each receiving a $50.00 gift card to the Apple Tree (donated by Don & Nadyne Snipes)
Second Annual Horseshoe Tournament - September 13, 2009
Oochee the Clown - September 24, 2008We hosted a marvelous clowning program put on by the wonderfully gifted Maureen Mould, aka Oochee the Clown, of Kaleidoscope Konnections! She entertained us with scripture-based clowning, and really down to earth questions about our faith. I would highly recommend attending any event with an opportunity to see this gifted performer. Some children came with a fear of clowns, but left this event with a love of Oochee and a deepened love for the Lord!
First Annual Horseshoe Tournament - September 14, 2008Teams were chosen based on random draw. We enjoyed fun and fellowship with a timeless game anyone can play. During the competition snacks were provided and many enjoyed watching the playoffs. There was heated competition between Russ and Drake over the gift certificate to play golf at the Apple Tree. A great time was had by all! WHY Open House - August 28, 2008This was an all church social event from 7:00-9:00PM and our goal was to meet the new parents of the 6th graders entering the WHY program. It is a time when members of our congregation have an opportunity to meet the parents from the youth programs, as many of them are not from our church. This is a great opportunity for everyone to come and meet our youth and discover what we do here on Thursday nights. BUNCO Party - April 27, 2008We met Sunday night at 6:30 PM for BUNCO. There were about 25 people at 6 tables of four. The object of the game bunco is to roll 3 dice for a specific number and collect points. First you roll for #1 then # 2 each number is a new round, every round you move to a new chair and get a new partner so it is a great social game. Anyone can play all you have to do is roll dice and have fun. We served deserts coffee and juice half way through, and there were prizes for high points, low points, most BUNCO (when you roll all three dice the # you are trying to get in one roll) this was a lot of fun and a great opportunity to visit with someone you wouldn't normally sit with.
Fishing Day - 2007Our first Fun & Fellowship event was a fishing day hosted by Jan and Gordy Carlson at the pond on their property off occidental. It was a beautiful day, the pond is full of fish so everyone caught something. You will notice Ed brought his own fish, just in case! We roasted hotdogs and made smores, because as you know we never gather without great food to eat. We hope to plan another day like this sometime soon. Hope to see you there, if you don't fish it was great fun to watch!
