Youth Camps

The Wiley Heights Covenant Church family believes that attending Christian camps is vital for the Christian education of our youth.

Wiley Heights youth with friends at camp Wiley Heights has made the commitment to fund half the camp registration fee for any child in our congregation who is interested in attending Cascades Camp. Thanks to the generosity of many in the congregation, we've been able to fulfill this commitment in recent years. The average cost of half the registration fee for each child is about $112-$170.

Each year we hold fund raisers to raise money to support these efforts. Recent fund-raising activities have included: a spaghetti feed, potato feed, ice cream social, calendar sales, garage sale, and a silent auction, which raised funds to send 6 kids to camp in 2004: Travis and Laura Melcher, Sorayah Surkatty, Heather Bales, Scott Perssons, and Bret Carlson.

Wiley Heights Youth at Cascades CampWe continue to "grow" future Christian workers at Wiley Heights. A.J. Melcher and Kristin Hull worked alongside a camp counselor in the Servant and Leadership Training or SALT program.

In the SALT program, young people participate in one week of training and spend their second week as an assistant to a counselor. If you are asked back for the next year's camping season to be a Seasoned SALT, you work for four weeks at a nominal pay.

Cascades Camp is a great place to spend some time. If you've never visited our Covenant camp, consider attending one of their upcoming session! Surf the Cascades Camp & Conference Center website for more information.

Camp Counselor dunking The chosen camp counselor

One highlight of the camp week is the dunking in the lake of two "chosen" camp counselors by the campers.
