mission work is really like.

The Mystery of the Poison Arrow
Tree
The Rugendo Rhinos Series, Book 1
by Shel Arensen
Matt, Dean, Dave, and Jon each live with their missionary parents
in Rugendo, Kenya. They form a club known as the Rugendo Rhinos.
They are in constant competition with the local girls and inevitably
are drawn into one heart-pounding adventure after another.
When the boys of the Rugendo Rhinos make a trip into the nearby
Kenyan jungle to hunt, they discover a terrifying mystery—a
very sick Kenyan boy and his friend who has already died. What happened
to the two boys? Were they cursed, as some of the villagers now
claim? Or is there a more logical, and more terrifying, explanation? |

Come Away
by Shel Arensen; Randy Alcorn, Foreword
“In a world of one-minute Bible studies and instant messages,
why would anyone be talking about day-long prayer retreats? The
reason is, whether we realize it or not, we desperately need to
spend time with God.” (from the introduction)
Most of us know we need to spend more time in prayer, but life
bombards us with the tyranny of the urgent. When we do finally decide
to slow down, we have no idea how to spend extended, meaningful
time with God. Yet it is through these times with God that we gain
a fresh awareness of our dependence on His strength.
This practical guide offers the tools and encouragement to carry
out a personal prayer retreat. It includes stories of both Bible
characters and contemporary men and women who can guide us to new
dimensions of intimacy with God. |
