Shel's work: I work planting churches with a group of people called the Dorobo. The Dorobo are traditional hunter-gatherers living in Kenya's highland forests. We started this work in 1991 when the Dorobo were still unreached by the Gospel. We now have over 20 churches among this people group. Our ministry involves driving into the villages, doing one-on-one evangelism, then discipling new believers and training leaders for the churches. We run a small discipleship training school in Naivasha for this purpose. On Sundays I visit different churches, preaching, giving holy communion and baptizing the new believers.

Kym's work: I work at Rift Valley Academy, a school for missionary children. I've taught third grade and then seventh grade. This year I will be working to improve RVA's program for students with special needs and learning differences.I have a real passion for all children to be able to succeed at school. By teaching these children of missionary parents, we also uphold and support the work of many others in Africa as they bring the Gospel to this contintent.

Shel has four children's adventure books about missionary kids growing up in Kenya. They are also great for showing kids and their parents what mission work is really like. The titles are:

Poison Arrow Tree
Carjackers
Secret Oath
Poachers Beware

Shel has also written a book on improving your walk with God by having personal prayer retreats. The book gives practical ways to spend time alone with God and includes numerous examples of people who have prayed including some from our lives on the mission field. The book is called: Come Away

These books are published by Kregel Publications. If they're not available in your Christian bookstore, they can be ordered online at www.kregel.com.
